People often get in dilemma to decide what should be given to teenagers as a gift. It is thought by some that cash would be the perfect present for them, while others oppose it. In my opinion, I consider that it is better to give other kinds of useful gifts such as toys, clothes, tiny electronic gadgets than money to adolescents.
On the one hand, it is argued by some that money is an easy gift to decide for young people. The core of the argument is that it is difficult to buy something for teenage people as each of them have different likings due to which adults couldn’t decide what they will like. At the same time, it frees them from hassles of purchasing things. Moreover, teenagers can spend that money on the things they actually need rather than the gifted items which they wouldn’t ever use. For instance, majority of teenagers didn’t like the presents given to them on various occasions because those were not needed.
On the other hand, I side with those who believe that money should never be offered to teenagers as a present. The main reason is that they are not mature enough to decide where to spend that money. It is probable that the cash might be spent by them on wrong activities like gambling or they could waste that money on useless things. What is more, parents better know how much money their children would require and will provide them as pocket money. In this way, teenagers would not get involved in any wrongdoings due to dearth of cash as a gift.
In conclusion, after exploring both viewpoints, I would say that since young people do not possess maturity regarding spending money in the right way, they should be provided with gifts that they can use in everyday life, the appropriate amount of money can be given to them by their progenitor.
