A lot of places in the world rely on tourism as a main source of income. Unfortunately, tourism can also be a source of problems if it is not managed correctly. Do you think that the benefits of tourism outweigh its drawbacks?

Nowadays tourism generates a significant portion of national income for many countries, but it has certain drawbacks too. I think the benefits developed tourism provides like development of economy and knowledge of various cultures clearly outweigh its drawbacks.

The tourism industry gives a boost to the country’s economy. Tourists spend money on a wide range of services, including hotels, amusements, transportation, food, and medical services. This way, tourism yields an additional income, greatly supporting the country’s economy. It also provides a large number of new job openings for the local people. For instance, the influx of tourists results in larger demand in restaurant workers, tour guides, hotel staff and employees of retail services. In addition to these economic benefits, tourism most importantly promotes cross culture experience where citizens broaden their horizon by meeting people from all over the world. So it can clearly be seen that international tourism results in many benefits for the host country.

However, there are some concerns about the negative impact tourism has on tourist destinations. Ancient buildings, temples, and monuments struggle to cope with a vast amount of visitor’s traffic and get damaged. Furthermore, tourism also leads to the development of illegal economic activities. The presence of a considerable number of tourists with a lot of money to spend, and often carrying valuables such as cameras and jewellery, increases the attraction for criminals and brings with it activities like robbery and drug dealing.

To conclude, although increased tourist numbers can have certain negative effects on popular destinations, proper security arrangements and correct usage of tourism revenue by the local government to maintain these places can eliminate these disadvantages. So, it cannot be denied that international tourism has an extremely positive influence on the country’s economy.

Nowadays tourism generates a significant portion of national income for many countries, but it has certain drawbacks too. In my opinion, I think developed tourism can bring lots of benefits like countries’ economic development and job creation for local people as compared to any drawbacks it might bring.

Despite the disadvantages below, I think the main advantage of the developed tourism industry is a boost in the country’s economy. In other words, tourists spend money on a wide range of services, including hotels, amusements, transportation, food, and medical services. This way, tourism yields an additional income, greatly supporting the country’s economy. Furthermore, it also provides a large number of new job openings for the local people. For instance, the influx of tourists results in larger demand in restaurant workers, tour guides, hotel staff and employees of retail services, exhorting business owners to hire more people for these positions.

Admittedly, there are some disadvantages of tourism firstly, destruction of popular tourist destinations. Ancient buildings, temples, and monuments struggle to cope with a vast amount of visitor’s traffic and get damaged. For instance, when places of interest are overcrowded, natural resources often become overexploited. Secondly, tourism also leads to the development of illegal economic activities. the presence of a considerable number of tourists with a lot of money to spend, and often carrying valuables such as cameras and jewelry, increases the attraction for criminals and brings with it activities like robbery and drug dealing. However, proper hospitality management and correct usage of tourism revenue by the local government can eliminate these disadvantages.

To conclude, although tourism can have certain negative effects like destructive impact and growth of crime rate, I believe it has an extremely positive influence on the country’s economy and provides a large number of new jobs for the local people.
