Academic Graph Set 5

The table below gives information about the underground railway systems in six cities.

The tabular graph compares the subway systems in six metropolises in the field of the opening date, its length, and annual ridership.

Overall, it is vivid that the three oldest underground systems are larger and serve significantly more passengers than the newer systems.

London’s belowground system was incorporated in 1863 having the longest route of 394 km and carries 775 million passengers annually. Two subway systems were inaugurated in Paris and Tokyo during the earlier years of 20th century. Although the length of the route of Paris’s system is half than London, it carries far more passengers. Tokyo system serves the largest number of passengers at 1927 million.

During the later period of the twentieth century, subterranean systems were opened in Washington DC and Kyoto. The Los Angeles network is the newest, having opened in 2001. There is only 29 km of difference between Washington DC and Tokyo, whilst the number of travellers is much less in Washington DC. Kyoto and Los Angeles has the shortest route and serves the least number of passengers between 45 and 50 million respectively.

The tabular graph compares the subway systems in six metropolises in the field of the opening date, its length, and annual ridership.

Overall, it is vivid that the three oldest underground systems are larger and serve significantly more passengers than the newer systems.

The belowground system in 1863, which was firstly opened in London, is the oldest one. In the 20th century, four underground railway systems were inaugurated which were located in Paris, Tokyo, Washington DC, and Kyoto. The latest system was in Los Angeles that started operation in 2001.

Although London’s subway has the longest route of 394 km, which is about twice the system in Paris, the numbers of annual passengers are more highlighted in Paris and Tokyo. Tokyo served the largest number of passengers at 1927 million, nearly doubling the second highest number recorded in Paris. This was followed by Washington DC’s subway with 126 km in lines and 144 million travellers. Kyoto and Los Angeles have the shortest route, and also serves the least number of passengers.
