Cue Card 18 – Describe a city you visited that you liked

Describe a city you visited that you liked

You should say:

  1. -What city it is
  2. -When you went there
  3. -What you did there
  4. -Why you liked it

  • Well, Ludhiana is the city I fell in love with, therefore I remember almost every minute that I spent there like it was just yesterday although I went there last year to meet my cousin when my uncle got the transfer there.
  • Ludhiana is a huge and bustling city. It is also called the Smart City. It’s so large that if you view the city from a tall building, you get the feeling that it doesn’t end.
  • Ludhiana is divided into two parts: the old town and the modern city. I am keen walker so I explored both of them on foot and I really like them both.
  • For example, while walking around its historic path, I leisurely explored historically significant architecture, peaceful green spaces, and unique local attractions along the way.
  • Sometimes I just walked around the city having no destination in mind. While I was walking in the modern part of the city, when I looked up, I felt like I was at the bottom of a deep, man-made canyon.
  • It’s really impressive, especially if you come from a small town, like me. So I walked, tried local food, visited famous attractions, and even did some shopping.
  • The city is sometimes called ‘a Shoppers Paradise’, so I didn’t want to miss the chance to go to several shopping malls and see for myself.
  • I like Ludhiana as I was overwhelmed by its size and beauty. I think it’s a magical place. I mean it really did feel like I was jumping from antiquity into modern times.
  • Also, I can’t help saying again that, to my mind, the most walkable city of all. You can literally walk for days and still have something new to see.
  • There are countless routes that can be taken in different parts of the city. So, in my opinion, it’s a wonderful place for tourists.

  1. What makes a city a good one to live in?

A lot of factors, to my mind. The ones I consider the most important for life are affordability, I mean housing expenses, the prices for consumable goods, the price of petrol, utility services, taxes and stuff like that, and accessibility, appearance and amenities, that is the presence of the airport, train and bus stations, good transport links, a number of educational institutions, a wide array of recreational facilities, shopping malls, parks and gardens and, of course, hospitals. I would also add good employment opportunities and low crime rates to my priority list and the climate as well.

  1. What can people do to improve the air quality in the City?

Well, stop using polluting vehicles, first of all, I mean petrol and diesel cars, and start using battery-driven in vehicles or public transport. This will significantly improve air quality levels as well as save some money for car owners. It’s also a good idea to ride a bike if there are special cycling lanes in the area or walk around instead of using private cars. One more really whiter thing for improving the quality is greening the City, I mean planting trees, bushes, and flowers in the yards, gardens, and parks.
