    I think there are lot of times that we need to encourage or push others to step outside their <\/span>comfort zone.<\/span>\u00a0Recently, one of my friends, Ravi and I went to Rishikesh.<\/span>\u00a0And I persuaded him to do something that he was really hesitant about trying at first.<\/span>\u00a0We went to Rishikesh during the winter vacations.<\/span>\u00a0We were locked up during the Covid period and so we both wanted a break.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Our plan was mainly sightseeing.<\/span>\u00a0However, there we came to know that Rishikesh is famous for adventure sports like <\/span>paragliding and cliff diving.<\/span>\u00a0I was really excited when I heard about it and really wanted to try them.<\/span>\u00a0But my friend is slightly afraid of heights.<\/span>\u00a0So, he refused to try them.<\/span>\u00a0I have known him since my childhood, and I knew that he would really regret not doing trying <\/span>them out later.<\/span>\u00a0It was also an opportunity for him to get over his fear.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    So, I encouraged him try it.<\/span>\u00a0Initially, he just simply refused.<\/span>\u00a0I just kept telling him about all the safety precautions.<\/span>\u00a0So, I thought the best way would be to talk to some people who had done them before.<\/span>\u00a0Talking to a few of them at the paragliding site, calmed him a bit.<\/span>\u00a0They all spoke about how safe it was and some even called it one of the best experienced of <\/span>their life.<\/span>\u00a0After listening to them, I felt my friend was a little more willing to try.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>He just needed a little nudge.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>So, I said I would go first and if all goes well, he has to follow.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Frankly speaking, I wasn\u2019t sure whether he would actually do it.<\/span>\u00a0But he did.<\/span>\u00a0It was really a great experience.<\/span>\u00a0My friend was also really happy and proud of doing it. <\/span>But when I asked if we could do it again, I got a loud NO.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    Follow Ups<\/span><\/h3>\n

    1<\/strong>. How could leaders encourage their employees?<\/span>
    There are many ways by which leaders and managers can encourage employees like leading <\/span>through example, incentives and appreciation. <\/span>I think each individual is wired differently. So, while one method may work for some people, it may <\/span>not work for another person.<\/span><\/p>\n

    2<\/strong>. When should parents encourage their children?<\/span>
    I think parents should always encourage their children. But children need encouragement especially <\/span>if they are afraid of failing or trying out something new. <\/span>Parents should tell them that success is secondary and trying is a much bigger achievement.<\/span><\/p>\n

    3<\/strong>. What kind of encouragement should parents give?<\/span>
    I think parents can encourage their children in many ways. If children are afraid of embarrassment, <\/span>parents can do the same thing in front of children first. For example, once in school, one of my <\/span>friends\u2019 father encouraged him to dance by himself dancing. But I think the biggest achievement is <\/span>supporting children when they are trying something new and telling them that success doesn\u2019t <\/span>matter as long as they try something.<\/span><\/p>\n

    4<\/strong>. Do you think some people are better at persuading others?<\/span>
    Yes, I think some people are able to motivate others much better. I think it depends upon <\/span>emotional intelligence.
