From\nthe perspective of some people, aid agencies can take advantage of celebrities\u2019\nfame\nto raise\npublic awareness towards certain matters of importance. Others, however, hold the\nview that\nsuch method may only bring counterproductive results. Personally, I find this\ncan have negative consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the one\nhand, some\npeople support\nthe idea of using famed individuals\u2019 assistance in aid Campaign. Because\nin many\nparts of the world, some film stars are even more\nwell-known to the locals than the organisation itself owing to their appearance\nin familiar\ncinematic products so a wider\nrange of population can be reached if an organisation\u2019s campaign is represented\nby a popular star. For instance, Priyanka Chopra\nwas appointed global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights in 2010 and\n2016. She promotes social causes such as environment, health and education, and\nwomen’s rights and undoubtedly draw a great deal of attention from her\nadmirers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On\nthe other hand, some\nother people\nare against inviting celebrities for assistance and I agree. Because when relying\non the fame of some people to attract more public attention, an\naid programme\ncan also be affected by their scandals. Mass public disapproval may arise\nfrom a\nrepresentative receiving a speeding ticket or getting caught using illegal\ndrugs,\nundervaluing the\nsignificance of the aid programme. Moreover without the evidence\nof real actions taken to mitigate a problem such as participating in a voluntary\nteam to\nhelp the people in need, famous people may fail to draw the attention of people\nto\nthe situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conclusion, while some people have reasons to believe in the success of celebrities in getting people to pay attention, I tend to think that such approach might not prove to be effective for aid organisations as expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OR<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\nhas been much debate regarding the role of famous people in raising public\nawareness of\nmajor issues. While celebrities can attract people’s attention to the problems,\nI would\nargue that they are likely to make the problems become less crucial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the one\nhand, some\npeople argue well-known people can assist international aid organisations in raising\npeople’s awareness\nof social issues. because celebrities can communicate information about big problems\nto a large audience around the world. For example, by taking part in the Ice\nBucket Challenge\nin 2014, various celebrities such as Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg have\nhelped the ALS\nOrganisation to let millions of people know about a disease called ALS.\nMoreover, since\npeople tend to listen to the ones they admire, famous people are much more\nlikely to be\nable to ask their fans to take appropriate actions. For instance, a well-known\nfootball player\ncan ask people to donate money to help homeless individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On\nthe other hand, some\nothers including me believe\nfamous people might make the problems become less important. Because\nindividuals\ntend to only pay attention to what celebrities do and say\nrather than\nwhat messages they want to convey. In the aforementioned example about the\nIce Bucket\nChallenge, many people watched the videos of celebrities taking up the\nchallenge without\nactually learning anything about the ALS disease. This makes little\ncontribution to\nsolve\nthe\nproblem compared to the large number of famous people involved.\nFurthermore, in order to attract viewers, well-known people usually try to deliver\ntheir messages\nin a funny and entertaining way, which might lead to the problems\nbecoming less\nserious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conclusion, while celebrities can contribute to tackling social problems, I believe they are more likely to make these problems seem less important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\nProminent<\/strong> (<\/strong>adj<\/strong>): <\/strong>very\nwell-known and important<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example: Many <\/em>prominient<\/em>\ninventors in history had <\/em>their ability <\/em>imprecisely\n<\/em>evaluated\nsuch <\/em>as\nThomas Edison and <\/em>Eistein<\/em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\nTo\nundervalue<\/strong> (v): <\/strong>to\nconsider something less important or valuable than they\nreally\nare <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example: It is very likely for employees who feel undervalued to leave the company and seek the appreciation of their worth somewhere else.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\nForeseeable<\/strong> (<\/strong>adj<\/strong>): <\/strong>can\nbe known or guessed before it happens<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example: The deterioration of humans\u2019\nhealth is foreseeable if the destruction of the environment persists at the\ncurrent rate<\/em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022\nconvey\n<\/strong>=\ndeliver<\/strong>: <\/strong>to\nmake ideas, feelings, etc. known to sb<\/p>\n\n\n\n
